Wk 12 — Art Activity — New Friends
Before this activity, I had no idea who Alyssa was, never heard of her, never seen her before. After like 4–5 days of texting back and forth I feel like she is one of my best friends. I feel like we got along really well and I really enjoyed getting to know a stranger and see how her life was going. I think it was a greta way for me to meet someone new during a pandemic and I’m sure it would be a lot of fun to many people I think the only struggle for this would be reaching out to find a partner. Not everyone is vocal or is comfortable with asking out into a class full of 100 other students. Alyssa and I followed each other on Instagram during the zoom call and then we exchanged phone numbers and have been texting since Monday. I think it worked really well, it felt nice learning about someones day from a whole other perspective than what I’m used to being around. I think if we used another platform I would forget to respond because I look at my messages a lot. Padlet was an interesting tool I had never heard of but it was not at all as hard as I though it would’ve been. I think there could’ve been a better way to show the pictures maybe using google drawings, not sure. It hasn’t been hard for me to create professional connections. I got a job at home depot during the pandemic and for the most part, everyone who works there is older, typically adults and older people. With that being said, I have to kind of tweak how I talk to some of them since they aren’t necessarily my friend but more of a coworker now.
